IMPORTANT REMINDERS and UPDATES
MOST RECENT UPDATE FROM 2/4/25 originally posted to Instagram: Well.. difficult things have been happening and difficult decisions are having to be made about MDG. As a recap, last spring I got sick with COVID putting me out of work for 2 weeks then dealing with long COVID for 9 months. In July, I moved for the first time and it was very difficult. At that time I was struggling to get caught up, but had closed for a total of 12 weeks to limit orders coming in and was on track for being in a much better place by the end of 2024. I had the holiday influx of orders and took my planned 6 days off for Christmas with family and unfortunately came back with a severe case of COVID, unexpectedly leaving me stuck in bed for 4 weeks and with even worse long COVID than before. The day after I felt well enough to return to work, I got food poisoning. Then I had a personal issue that turned into a major concern and had to start a long term treatment last week. Then the next day I found out my grandfather passed away. Everything piling up has honestly made me feel like I’m drowning with no relief in sight and at this point, MDG is going to have to take a break.. a long one, not a temporary closing like I had planned. The new plan is for me to wrap up all custom orders, yes, they’ll all still be completed, then put MDG on hold while making major life changes. Once all orders are done, I’ll use left over materials to make as many Ready to Ship items as I can, then will be moving states to live with my dad while I recover and regroup. MDG will be a part time job when I feel up to it and when I’m able to. All until I can get my health under control and figure out what to do. I know this is sad news as many of you were anticipating a reopening soon or the launch of new products for ordering, and so was I, but it would be helpful for me at this time to refrain from comments asking me to stay open or to take your order as it’s not possible right now. Thank you for 5 years of support. 😢💔

CUSTOM ORDERS CLOSED! I have closed custom orders and will not consider reopening them until all orders are completed, the move to a new state is done and I take my much needed time away. At that point, I may open a limited amount of spots if I feel up to it, but this is undecided. I will not open any spots until I have short wait times and updated procedures for organization and communication. For current custom harnesses, I will be in contact with you when I get to your order. The reason I don't contact you before I get to you is that would be a great way for things to get confusing and overwhelming when I'm working with 100+ customers. So your patience is appreciated, know that I will get to you and will work with you to make things right. Every measure possible is being taken to complete all orders, so don't worry, you will receive your order! I understand the excitement for new gear and how frustrating it can be to have delays. More than anyone else, I want you to receive and love your gear!
WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF RECEIVING A CUSTOM ORDER? When you placed your order, you were put into the queue. Your order moves up the order tracker, linked at the bottom of this paragraph and linked in my Instagram bio. For harnesses, right before I begin working on your order, I will contact you to let you know your order is being started, check any previous messages or notes, ask any questions I may have and confirm your shipping address. For all orders, once your order ships, tracking is automatically sent by Shopify through email.
REMINDER OF POLICIES: All policies, including, but not limited to those regarding wait time estimates, cancellations and refunds, are and have always been available to view at checkout and are concisely covered in our FAQs found in the menu. These policies have not changed since 3/13/2022 and are strictly enforced to maintain fairness to all customers. For convenience, the Refund Policy and Shipping Policy can be found here, too.

ABOUT US
Hi! I'm Danielle, the owner of MDG. MDG is named after Misty, my retired service dog for mobility assistance, medical alert and medical response. I'm 22 and a visually impaired guide dog handler. I was recently diagnosed with a progressive retina disease called Cone-Rod Dystrophy which is rare and genetically inherited, but I am the first person in my family affected by it. Since my diagnosis, I've experienced significant changes and now have profound vision loss, which I've been adapting to through things like orientation and mobility training and assistive technology. Murphy, my guide dog, is a large 3 year old Golden Retriever who enjoys guiding me through busy cities and theme parks or relaxing by my side at coffee shops. I am very passionate about all dog things- service dogs, dog equipment, learning about different dog breeds and watching dog sports like conformation and heelwork to music. When I'm not working, researching dog equipment or designing new products, I enjoy going to coffee shops and traveling.
